Legal and Privacy
What Rave Book Search is, how to ask for something to be removed, and what data is handled.
Questions: ravesearch.nmmw4@aleeas.com.
What this site is
Rave Book Search is a search tool. It does not host, store or serve any book or audiobook file.
It looks up listings on third-party websites and shows you links to them. We do not own, run or
control those websites, cannot vouch for their safety, accuracy or legality, and their content is
their responsibility. Whether you may lawfully download or use something depends on the law
where you live and on the rights in that work. That choice, and responsibility for it, is yours.
We do not encourage copyright infringement.
Takedown requests
If you are a rights holder, or act for one, and a result shown by this site points to a work you
have not authorised, tell us below. We review each request and, where it is properly made, stop
showing the matching results. We aim to act within 30 working days.

Privacy: what is handled
Short version: we do not run accounts, adverts or analytics scripts, we do not set cookies of our
own, and from October 2026 we no longer record what people search for or show any statistics about it.
- Search text. When you search, your text goes to our server, which passes it to the third-party sources (for example LibGen or Internet Archive) so they can search. They receive the search text from our server, not your address. The combined results are kept in a shared Cloudflare cache for about 10 minutes, so that repeat searches are fast. We do not record searches beyond that.
- Cloudflare. This site and its search server run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request data (including your IP address and the page or search address requested) to deliver and secure the service, under its own privacy policy. The only analytics we use are the aggregate daily visitor counts Cloudflare reports to us. They are totals, not tied to any individual, and we have switched off our own request logging.
- Your browser contacts others directly. Fonts are served from this site. Book cover images and, for LibriVox and Manybooks, live previews are fetched by your browser straight from those sites, so they see your IP address. Links you click leave this site and are covered by those sites' policies.
- Stored in your browser. Display preferences, dismissed notices and your own search and download counters (the "local stats" on the Stats and Sources page) are kept in your browser (local storage). They are never sent to us. You can switch local stats off, which stops recording and deletes what is stored, or reset them, on the Stats and Sources page, and you can clear everything from your browser settings.
- Earlier statistics. From 31 July 2026 until October 2026 we recorded each search as a normalised search text and the country it came from, with no IP address, and thumbs up or down votes. Collection has stopped and none of it is shown on this site any more. The totals we gathered were deleted from our servers on 2 October 2026. Cloudflare's own copy of the underlying records expires automatically within three months.
- Takedown requests. The form collects your name, email address, organisation, and details of your claim. We use them only to assess and answer your request and to keep a record of it, and keep them until the request has been handled. They are then deleted automatically 12 months later (or 12 months after receipt if never handled). Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in handling rights-holder claims.
- No selling or sharing. We do not sell or share personal data, and do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Your rights under UK data protection law include asking what we hold, asking us to correct or
delete it, and objecting to its use. Email
